Dr. Bandele Majeks
Co-Founder, Emergency Physician
Dr. Majeks has been practicing in the field of Emergency Medicine for over
10 years. He is a co-founder and director of Urgent Care Barbados Inc. He graduated from the University of The West Indies Medical School in 2003. On completion of an internship period at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in January 2005, he traveled to the United Kingdom where he worked for 1 year in both Surgical and Emergency Medicine specialties. In 2006 he returned to Barbados and to the Emergency Department at the QEH. He completed a doctorate in Emergency Medicine in 2015 and continues to work part time in the department as a Senior Registrar.
Dr. Majeks is an instructor in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and is also certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Trauma life support, Pediatric Acute Life Support, Acute Paediatric Life Support and Mass Casualty Management.
Dr Majeks is also co-founder and director at Medical Associates Family Clinic in Warrens and is also employed part time at Sandy Crest Medical Centre in Sunset Crest. His special interest is in trauma resuscitation.
Dr. Makeba Brooks
Co-founder, Emergency Physician
Dr. Brooks, co-founder and director of Urgent Care Barbados,
graduated from the University of the West Indies Medical school in 2004. Dr. Brooks, co-founder and director of Urgent Care Barbados, graduated from the University of the West Indies Medical school in 2004. She started work in the Accident and Emergency department Queen Elizabeth Hospital following completion of her internship in 2005. She progressed through the ranks of junior doctor to Senior Registrar over the following 10 years. Dr Brooks completed her Doctorate of Emergency Medicine in 2015.
Not only is she certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Advanced Trauma life support and Pediatric Acute life support, she is an instructor in Mass Casualty Management.
Having left the Emergency department in 2015 she is currently employed at Sandy Crest Medical Centre, Coverly Medical Centre and Elcourt Clinic, all of which focus primarily on delivering urgent medical attention. Dr. Brooks has a special interest in trauma management and clinical administration.
Dr. Kiran Surage
Emergency Physician
Dr. Surage is an Emergency Physician with over seven years of experience in Emergency Medicine.
He has earned degrees from the University of the West Indies in Basic Medical Sciences (in 2005), Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (in 2008) and Doctorate of Medicine in Emergency Medicine (in 2015).
He is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Advanced Trauma life support, Acute Pediatric life support, Paediatric Acute Life Support, Mass Casualty Management, Basic Assessment & Support in Paediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Acute Life Support.
He has special interests in the areas of Intensive Care, Airway Management and Academia. In 2010, he was given the award of Employee of the Year of the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
